All hail, Doctor Taylor Swift! The popstar recently delivered a lengthy yet very emotive speech to New York University's Graduating Class of 2021 and 2022.

Aside from being the commencement speaker for today's rites, the GRAMMY-winning singer also received an honor only given to select people who have impacted the University and the community.

Taylor Swift Receives Honorary Doctorate Degree from New York University

Chronicling her brief getting ready journey in an Instagram Reel, the "Speak Now" hitmaker had a huge day earlier as she received an honorary doctorate in fine arts from New York University.

Only a few people have received honorary degrees from the prestigious university. These includes Music icon Aretha Franklin, Taiwanese Film Legend Ang Lee, Fomer President Bill Clinton, incumbent Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Hollywood Film star Billy Crystal, and current Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

New York University Senior VP for Public Affairs John Beckman explained that recipient of the honorary degrees are chosen for distinction or achievement in fields taught and researched by the school, including science, social sciences, humanities, the arts, law, medicine, and business. "We select honorees whose talents, achievements and actions will serve as examples for our graduates," Beckman said.

Other than the humbling honor she received, Taylor Swift also delivered a rousing speech for the Class of 2021 and 2022.

In her speech, Swift offered some "life hacks" to the new graduates, spoke about female role models, and how to live alongside "cringe."

"You will look back on your life and cringe retrospectively. Cringe is unavoidable over the course of a lifetime... You can't avoid it so don't try to - for the entirety of 2012 I dressed like a 1950s housewife!," Swift quipped.

Taylor Swift New York University Exclusive Music Course

Months prior to her doctorate conferment and commencement speech, New York University has launched and offered an exclusive music course about Taylor Swift.

The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts has offered the course last Spring Semester from January 26 until March 9, 2022.

Per NYU, the course covered Swift's evolution as a creative music entrepreneur, the legacy of pop and country songwriters, discourses of youth and girlhood, and the politics of race in contemporary popular music.
