Lil Nas X has been stirring the headlines for weeks already because of his ongoing back and forth with the BET Awards.

Stemming from a huge nomination snub from this year's list of nominees, the rapper has recently doubled down on the studio to release a diss track about his snub.

Despite the BET addressing Nas' concern, the problem seemed to escalate more and might have reached a point of no return.

Fans of the "Montero" hitmaker who are unaware of what transpired are now scrambling on what led him to release a single all of a sudden.

Lil Nas X, BET Awards Drama Timeline Explained

Earlier this month, the BET Awards released its annual list of nominees to be awarded this year. Leading the hefty pack is Doja Cat, with six nominations and four nods each for Drake and Ari Lennox.

Shortly after the list hit the internet, Lil Nas X took to Twitter to voice out his frustrations upon finding that his name was nowhere to be found on the nominees.

In a now-deleted string of tweets, the GRAMMY-winning rapper "thanked" the BET Awards for an "outstanding zero nominations again."

Per the "That's What I Want" singer, he felt like producing three of the biggest songs last year, and his critically-acclaimed album could have helped him get even a single nomination.

A week after his Twitter meltdown, the singer then posted a video clip of him chanting "F*ck BET," in what seemed to be then a diss track against the channel.

Lil Nas X's fiery rant met with backlash. Some fans are even questioning the rapper's entitlement to getting a nomination. However, the 23-year-old rapper pointed out that it was not about not having an award but instead about the blatant homophobia in the black community.

The same day that he released the clip. BET finally responded to Nas X's fishy allegations thru a statement.

Per BET, Lil Nas X was simply not nominated this year by the Voting Academy, which is composed of key industry professionals and leaders in music, television, and film, among others.

"At BET, we are passionate advocates for the wonderful diversity that exists within our community. We are committed to using all of our platforms to provide visibility and inclusion for all of the many intersections of the Black community," the statement reads.

On the other hand, Lil Nas X remains unbothered and proceeds to finally announce that the clip he initially teased was actually a collaboration with NBA YoungBoy, which is also a diss track to the network.

The rapper dropped the song and its music video today along with its controversial cover art where Nas X seemed to be "pissing" on his BET Award in the toilet.
