High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Season 3 Trailer Unpacked

Staying true to its earlier news releases, HSMTMTS is exploring the gang's summer escapade on their first-ever summer camp.

With Matt Cornett, Sofia Wylie, and Joshua Bassett taking the main lead roles this season, the gang, along with Julia Lester, Dara Renee, and Frankie Rodriguez, is set to audition for the camp's adaptation of Frozen.

High School Musical alum Corbin Bleu is also making an appearance as himself, the key celebrity who brings Frozen to the great outdoors. Hannah Montana's Jason Earles will also be featured in a prominent role as a camp mentor.

The two Disney alums were already shown on the first peek of the series a month ago.

But aside from them, the new Season 3 trailer of HSMTMTS now features two more additional guests - JoJo Siwa and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

JoJo Siwa, who was recently announced as a new judge for So You Think You Can Dance, makes a surprise appearance as a camp alum.

Meanwhile, Jesse Tyler Ferguson will be playing somewhat a key role in the series' star, Olivia Rodrigo.

Fresh from his new Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play in Take Me Out, Ferguson is playing Olivia Rodrigo's family friend Marvin.

Not much is revealed about their characters at this point, but it is expected that more teasers will come as the series nears its release.

Olivia Rodrigo on HSMTMTS Season 3: Is She Taking A Back Seat?

Yes, Olivia Rodrigo will be on Season 3 of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, but she is demoted to a recurring role.

Similar to Olivia Keegan, Rodrigo's character Nini will be featured less. This is mainly because her music career has finally taken off since the series' second season.

In the trailer, Nini is not with the main casts on Camp Shallow Lake. She appears alongside Kate Reinder's character Miss Jen, and Ferguson's character Marvin based on the clips.

HSMTMTS Season 3 will air on Disney Plus on Jul. 27, 2022.
