Formally known as Tione Jayden Merritt, Lil Tjay was reportedly shot in The Promenade, Edgewater, New Jersey, last Jun. 22, 2022.

Lil Tjay almost died that night after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. His friend, Antone Boyd was also found on the scene with a single gunshot.

Merrit's injuries were so severe he was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. While under the knife, fans, and other rappers, like French Montana, showered him well wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery.

However, the day after, reports have been emerging that the rapper has been unconscious since the surgery. Apparently, sources say that Lil Tjay was scheduled for a CAT scan to further explain his condition.

So far, aside from moving his legs, Lil Tjay has not made any significant improvements, although he is now stable.

Lil Tjay Death Rumors Debunked

Because of the scarcity of news updates, fans have resorted to rumors.

Some news outlets have reported that Lil Tjay's doctor revealed that he was already paralyzed, noting that he will be "incapacitated until the end of time."

However, Lil Tjay's family has never confirmed these allegations. His uncle, on the other hand, confirmed that the rapper is indeed "pulling thru" and will be okay.

As of this writing, no significant updates on Lil Tjay's real health condition.

Apparently, the incident that put Lil Tjay's life in danger was a botched robbery, the Edgewater Police Department reports.

The department revealed that the man behind the gruesome shooting was Mohamad Konate, a New York resident who is now arrested by the authorities.

Konate is facing hefty charges in New York - these include three counts of first-degree attempted murder, three counts of first-degree armed robbery, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree certain persons not to possess a firearm, and fourth-degree aggravated assault.
