After more than a decade of performing in a band, Marcus Mumford is venturing out into a solo career as he recently announced his debut album as a solo artist; Is it finally time for him to bid goodbye to Mumford & Sons?

Taking to is official Instagram account, the folk-rock artist said he faced and danced with "demons" for a long time while being isolated during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He wrote a song titled "Cannibal" on January 21. He then took the track to his friend Blake Mills and started the process of making an album.

The upcoming record will be self-titled.

"It comes out September 16th 2022, produced by Blake Mills and featuring Brandie Carlile, Phoebe Bridgers, Clairo and Monica Martin." (via iHeart)

The singer has been teasing fans about a solo album since last month, especially when he performed at Carlile's show.

"As I was in the process of making a record, she heard a couple of songs and put her arm around me and said, 'I'm gonna help you do whatever it is you need to do to finish this,'" Mumford told the crowd.

The two went into the recording studio the following day and started working on their collaborative track, which is the last song on the album.

Is Mumford & Sons Breaking Up?

Fortunately for fans, Mumford & Sons will not be disbanding as he clarified on stage that his solo album had the "full blessing and permission of the band." He also noted that he will not be leaving the group as he's still a part of it.

Variety previously reported that the folk-rock band will not break up as many groups in the past have hinted possible disbandment after a certain member started releasing music under a solo career.

The last time Mumford & Sons released an album was in 2018, titled "Delta."

Their fourth studio album, which was recorded at The Church Studios in London, was released via Island Records and Glassnote.

Produced by Paul Epworth, the record was a success as it landed at number one on the Billboard 200 US while being number two on the UK albums chart.

As of this writing, the band has not revealed when their next LP will be released. Marcus Mumford has also not shared the official tracklist of his upcoming album.
