Over the past few months, many reports alleged that there's an ongoing rift between the three rappers behind Migos, and their absence at this year's Governor's Ball only intensified the rumors. Recently, Quavo spoke out about the band's current state and reveals why they're focusing on their solo careers.

Speaking to GQ Hype along with his mother Edna and brother Willie Bands, the rapper answered a few questions that would interest fans, especially about the rap trio that consists of him, Offset and Takeoff.

The rapper explained that all of the members are now at a point in their careers where it's crucial for each of them to strengthen their individual catalog as solo artists.

By doing this, Quavo said it will let them continue to thrive in the industry in the years to come.

"It was all about Migos, Migos, Migos. The three of us. I feel like every group member has to establish themselves. Their own body of work. If not, you start losing members," he told writer Jewel Wicker. (via Complex)

He later noted that he sees himself as a "quarterback in life," before adding, "But now that I want it, I'm just going to show you."

The rapper has not addressed if they're disbanding or going through issues behind closed doors.

Elsewhere in the interview, the rapper addressed his 2020 controversy wherein he was filmed having an argument with his ex-girlfriend Saweetie.

Although Quavo has dodged any questions regarding the incident in the past, he answered the magazine's question and explained that he would never want to do any harm to any woman.

The rapper said he doesn't like other people's perspectives about him, saying when they saw the video, they immediately thought he was abusive and "something crazy."

The recent interview comes more than a month after Migos canceled their Governors Ball Music Festival appearance last minute.

Event organizers confirmed the news online, saying the trio wouldn't make it to their set because of "circumstances out of control."

Lil Wayne eventually replaced their scheduled set.

Following the cancelation, many fans speculated about a feud between the three rappers.

The alleged rift stemmed from Takeoff and Quavo's song "Hotel Lobby."

Despite the rumors, a representative of the group confirmed that there were no personal problems between the rappers and the reason why they didn't perform at the event was because of Quavo's filming schedule.
