Live Nation recently broke its silence on the incident that led to Drakeo The Ruler's death.

Drakeo The Ruler, whose real name was Darrell Caldwell, is yet to receive the justice he deserves as Live Nation recently proclaimed no liability over the stabbing incident. It has already been seven months since the rapper was stabbed to death, yet no arrests have been made so far.

On Tuesday, Live Nation - the organizer of the Once Upon A Time in L.A. concert in December - filed documents arguing that the negligence and liability claim it received failed to detail the grounds for the case to proceed.

For what it's worth, Drakeo The Ruler's brother, Devante Caldwell, and several members of the Stinc Team rap collective filed claims against the organizer.

During the morning hearing, Celeena B. Pompeo - a lawyer representing Live Nation - said that a formal challenge on Thursday would follow the recent demurrer. Even Drakeo The Ruler's mother, Darrylene Corniel, filed a wrongful death lawsuit.

Rolling Stone obtained the aforesaid challenge, in which Live Nation said it could not be held responsible for the stabbing incident before the rapper was set to perform. Per the promoter, it had no control in preventing third-party criminal conduct since there were no prior similar incidents during its previous concerts.

Following the filing, the judge said a trial date would be set during the follow up hearing on September 20.

Why Drakeo The Ruler Was Targeted

Following his death, his mother filed a lawsuit in which she claimed that her son was targeted by gang members after refusing to participate in its activities.

"Despite being exonerated of having had any involvement whatsoever with the murder of the Bloods gang member, it had been widely known to the public via social media, and otherwise that certain members of the Bloods gang had rejected the acquittal and sought to exact 'street justice' against Darrell," Corniel's lawsuit says.

She particularly sued Live Nation, Bobby Dee Presents, Snopp Dogg's LLC, and C3 Presents, as well, due to security failures.

Initially, it was reported that multiple vehicles were admitted to the backstage VIP area without proper screening. The late rapper's entourage was also targeted during the mob attack for 15 minutes, and no venue security helped them out then.

The medical responders immediately attended to him while rushing the hip-hop star to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he did not make it due to his injuries and died at the age of 28.
