Ariana Grande is all ready to "Break Free" into outer space. Today (Aug. 12), the major pop star released her second music video from her new album My Everything, and she pays tribute to all things campy, Star Wars and Barbarella.

Reportedly originally due out last week, Grande announced the 9 p.m. premiere of "Break Free" on her Twitter account. "surprise! break free video in an hour," she wrote, alarming her millions of Arianators to the news of the official clip.

When it debuted the promised 60 minutes later, it was clear that this was little more than a hilarious, sexy and totally fun tribute to the sci-fi B-movies of the '70s and '80s.

"What you are about to witness is scientifically authentic. It is just one step ahead of present day reality and two steps ahead of present day sexiness," a Star Wars (and "Break Free" lyric video) type scroll pronounces at the beginning of the video.

From there, Grande stars as a sexy, intergalactic crime fighter. Armed with a laser gun and cannonball shooting boobs, Grande releases struggling species from space prison, destroys a massive Power Rangers style robot and, well, parties in space.

The final act of the music video brings Grande together with aliens of all sorts in a massive dance party with, hey!, Zedd spinning some records in the background.

There's also a particularly obvious product placement for Beats by Dre, but we digress...

As Grande promised, the music video for "Break Free" is a total good time and doesn't take itself too seriously... just like any great B-movie.

"Break Free" is the second single from Ariana Grande's new album My Everything. It follows the release of "Problem," which has been declared a solid candidate for 2014's song of the summer.
