Anthony "Abaddon" Bray started his brave journey to beat a dreaded disease.

After being out of the limelight for quite some time, Bray gave his fans worrying news about the health diagnosis he recently received. The former Venom drummer wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday, revealing that he was diagnosed with lymphoma, prompting him to start his chemotherapy immediately.

Bray revealed that he first noticed a mass growing on the side of his neck in July 2022. He initially thought it was an insect bite as he currently resides near the sea.

However, the mass grew bigger, leading his wife, Rachel, to urge him to see his doctor. His GP first told him it was highly unlikely cancer since lumps caused by the dreaded illness do not grow overnight.

But after going through tests, Bray found out that he has lymphoma, a cancer of the blood.

"He sent me immediately for a CT scan and an MRI scan which showed that I also had cancer in my bowel and lower intestinal tract. He decided therefore, to not operate on my neck but to refer me to haematology at wandsbeck hospital in Ashington," he went on.

The drummer's specialist ordered him to undergo six cycles of chemotherapy, with him receiving the first one a day before he announced his diagnosis.

Bray added that he would be referred to another freeman hospital to undergo radiotherapy after receiving the chemotherapy.

In the end, he cursed at the health issue and said it would not break him in any way.

The National Cancer Institute lists two types of lymphoma - Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). It starts in the lymph system, which has lymphocytes that help the nodes filter and destroy the bacteria. However, it can be cancerous over time rather than preventing infection from spreading.

Anthony "Abaddon" Bray's Legacy

After Bray shared the news, his fans took their time to look back at his contributions to the music industry.

The drummer joined Venom's classic lineup from 1978 to 1992. He then returned to the band in 1995 and stayed with them for four years before joining Venom Inc alongside Jeff "Mantas" Dunn and Tony "Demolition Man" Dolan.

They dropped their debut album, "Ave," in August 2017 decades after releasing three albums as Venom - "Prime Evil," "Temples of Ice," and "The Waste Lands."
