Coolio's death is being used by scammers to trick people online.

A week after Coolio died, his family confirmed that his body had already been cremated as he had wished. The rapper untimely died at the age of 59 after suffering an apparent heart attack.

While fans have been paying tribute to him and making donations in his name, some people used his tragic death to scam others.

Coolio's daughter, Brandi, shared the revelation on her Instagram Story regarding the "sick" scammers who made donation pages. As reported by The Sun, Brandi shared screenshots of the faux pages, including a GoFundMe page "Remembrance for the coolio memorial," with a $2,700 target.

The page can no longer be searched on the platform, suggesting that GoFundMe already removed it from the site.

The scammers emerged as new details about the rapper's life emerged. Per the news outlet, Jackie - Coolio's 89-year-old partner, died at the age of 89. One of his daughters was named after her.

His manager, Jarez Posey, was the first person to confirm his death. The Los Angeles Fire Department's Capt. Erik Scott said that the man who needed medical attention at the 2900 block of South Chesapeake Ave. was the rapper.

They tried to revive him for 45 minutes, but responders declared him dead minutes later.

His friends have since shared it was possible he died after his years-long issue with asthma. The American Heart Association explains a related issue, saying that patients with asthma have a higher risk of developing a heart condition known as atrial fibrillation.

"We initially suspected that the link between asthma and atrial fibrillation may be explained by high levels of common inflammation markers in the blood at the baseline of the study," assistant professor of cardiovascular medicine at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Dr. Matthew Tattersall, said.
