Tove Lo might have been releasing songs that are often played in clubs like "Habits (Stay High)" "Love Ballad," and many more, but she's now ready to take her fans into a much deeper approach to tell her personal story through audio and visual.

The Swedish pop star recently released a music video for her very personal single titled "Grapefruit" in which she tackled her struggles with an eating disorder in the past.

According to Billboard, the singer danced an emotional choreography throughout the 4-minute video as a grapefruit decomposes inside the refrigerator.

In the lyrics of the song, Tove Lo discusses how she wanted to change overnight and wanted to "kill" her obsession before asking herself why is she "still in this fight."

Tove Lo Discusses 'Grapefruit's Deep Meaning

Speaking to Apple Music's "The Zane Lowe Show" ahead of the release of her upcoming album, the 34-year-old singer thinks she's touching subjects as a woman where she feels like it has to do with her relationship with her femininity.

The pop star, whose real name is Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson, clarified that the topic might not be clear in the entirety of her tracklist, but it helped and hurt her throughout her life.

Discussing the song mentioned above, she said, "I feel like with songs like 'Grapefruit,' which I talk about my body issues as a teenager, which I've never really touched on before, I think I needed a good amount of years to be well from it before I could discuss it publicly."

She added that the track "just kind of happened" and despite having "intense" lyrics, she was able to produce a "banger dance track."

"I feel like that one is... I just feel proud of myself for daring to go there," she added.

"Grapefruit" is part of Tove Lo's upcoming album titled "Dirt Femme" which will be available for purchase and streaming on music platforms like Apple Music and Spotify starting on October 14.
