Willie Spence died tragically at the age of 23, the result of a car accident.

On Tuesday, the "American Idol" runner-up was in Tennessee, where the incident occurred. According to a subsequent TMZ post, he suffered a flat tire at some point that day, but he got it patched and continued driving back home to Atlanta.

According to their source, the singer-influencer collided with a tractor-trailer stopped on the side of the road.

Furthermore, whether alcohol played a factor in Willie Spence's death has been questioned, although his family has already refuted that view.

Instead, they base their idea on Willie's weekend behavior.

According to another TMZ source, he was leaving Tennessee State University's homecoming weekend when the collision occurred.

While others thought that he was driving intoxicated, his family stated that Willie was not a drinker, thus that hypothesis does not fit.

The accident happened during the day, not late at night, which leads them to suspect he wasn't just getting out of a huge party.

Furthermore, TMZ stated that the singer had a long weekend, which might have left him terribly weary, and that his family believes he may have fell asleep behind the wheel.

Willie Spence's cause of death has yet to be officially determined.
