Eddie Van Halen died in 2020, but his Van Halen members are yet to hold a tribute concert for him because of a "single former Van Halen member" holding it up.

Rumors continuously swirl around the highly-anticipated Eddie Van Halen tribute concert. Those started as fans queried why it has not been launched yet although two years have already passed since his death.

But recently, Sammy Hagar broke his silence about that single former Van Halen member, saying that "it is not just one guy" who holds up the concert.

During his appearance on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation," Hagar admitted that he and Alex Van Halen also do not talk. He reportedly tried contacting Alex despite their estrangement, but he was treated with silence instead.

"I reached out to Al, and he wouldn't return my call or my email. And so I said, 'You know what? F*ck it. It's not on the top of my list, my agenda. I think Eddie deserves, definitely, a tribute. ... And the whole world would show up and the whole world would do it," he said, as quoted by Ultimate Classic Rock and Culture.

There have been different talks regarding a tribute concert. Recently, reports about David Lee Roth and Alex opening a conversation with guitarist Joe Satriani and former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted to have a tour surfaced.

As of press time, no definite details on the Eddie Van Halen's tribute concert have been released.

Eddie Van Halen's Death

In 2020, a news outlet reported that he died at St. Johns Hospital in Santa Monica in the U.S. after the doctors found out that the throat cancer he had been struggling with for years already spread to his brain and other organs.

According to Cancer Council Australia, throat cancer starts in a person's pharynx or larynx, resulting to pharyngeal and laryngeal cancers. Some causes of it include smoking, HPV, Epstein-Barr virus, poor diet, and family history of the dreaded disease.

Before Van Halen's death, he spent most of his time in the hospital because of intestinal issues.

At the same time, he tried fighting off cancer by undergoing chemotherapy. He then flew back and forth between the US and Germany for five years for his radiation treatment.

Following his death, his son Wolfgang told "The Howard Stern Show" that his father had lung cancer and a brain tumor.
