There has been a lot going on in the world of rap music in recent days: Takeoff's death, Drake and 21 Savage's newly released joint album, and Drake's beef with Megan Thee Stallion over a cryptic lyric.

A dark cloud settled over "this business," Drake said, referring to the alarming rate of gun violence in recent years, as he spoke about Takeoff during the opening segment of "Table For One," his radio show on SiriusXM.

"Before I get into the pleasantries, I'd just like to send our deepest condolences from the family to the entire QC," the Canadian rapper said.

"To our brother Quavo, to our brother Offset, to the friends and loved ones of the legendary, unprecedented Takeoff - a guy that I knew for a long, long time."

Rappers, Gun Violence

Several rappers have been the target of gun violence, and some did not make it out alive. PnB Rock, Pop SMoke, and Nipsey Hussle were some of those who tragically died after getting fatally shot.

Some shootings are not intended to kill their targets, just as what happened to Megan Thee Stallion who accused a fellow rapper, Tory Lanez, of shooting her foot.

However, Drake's newly released song "Circo Loco" questions the female rapper's claims. The lyrics read: "This b***h lie 'bout getting shots, but she still a stallion / She don't even get the joke / But she still smiling."

Megan Thee Stallion furiously responded to Drake's accusations, "Stop using my shooting for clout b***h ass n****s! Since when [the f**k] is it cool to joke abt women getting shot!"

She also pointed out the double standards in the industry, "Ready to boycott bout shoes and clothes but dog pile on a black woman when she say one of y'all homeboys abused her."

A fan sympathized with Stallion, tweeting, "Megan Thee Stallion was a victim of domestic violence bro. She wasn't outchea on some bust yo gun shit in a mutual shootout and got shot. Tory shot an unarmed woman. WTF Drake. The 40 Covid delay plus Takeoff's passing should've gave second thought to putting that out. [sic]"

"If [Drake] is in fact referring to [Megan Thee Stallion]'s shooting incident/injury on his latest album, that's neither cool nor clever. It's ignorant & misogynistic. And a lot of you co-signing such foolishness were "mourning the loss" of Takeoff to gun violence earlier this week," another wrote.

"The contrast between Drake using Megan Thee Stallion's shooting for clout vs the outcry over Takeoff's death is shocking," a Twitter user pointed out.
