It's time to accept the fact that the whole generation (or two) have passed since some of the most well-loved rock songs have made the charts. While they're always going to remain loved, we cannot blame kids who have a different taste palate to react funnily to these. And despite the assumption that children are easily delighted when it comes to music and will listen to anyone their parents choose for them, it turns out that they take their listening preferences quite seriously.

Now, due to US teacher Cierra Johnson, who pushes her class of young schoolchildren to offer their opinions on her favorite bands, older generations who grew up to these bands are able to assess what these younger ones think.

As Johnson plays various songs for her classes, such as "I Miss You" by Blink-182, she invites the children to record their thoughts on each song using colored sticky notes. Then, after gathering the responses, she shares them on her TikTok account. Regarding the aforementioned pop-punk ballad, the group of youths had a variety of opinions, such as the song is both awesome and terrible. Some said it's cringy.

One chid even compared it to a song by Ed Sheeran, or as they refer to him, "Ned Sheeran." One hilariously said that the the tune is odd, like a blob fish!" Fair enough, "blob fishes" does sound odd. One said being forced to listen to these songs felt like being asked to something as distasteful as consuming greens.

As Johnson played the 2001 alternative rock song Clint Eastwood by Gorillaz, the children's scrutinizing grew more severe, with one student remarking that he feels like he is being punished alongside his classmates.

The final comment from the teacher's evaluation challenge, however, was made after the children listened to The Smashing Pumpkins' song "1979." The commenter was quite cheeky, comparing the whole playlist of their teacher as being on the bathroom after Taco Bell night.

Clearly, they are not fans of alt-rock or American fast-food interpretations of Mexican cuisine. Fortunately, not all of the Pumpkins' assessments were bad, as one young listener colorfully said, "It sounds like unicorns." At least, right?
