On December 3 seven years ago, Stone Temple Pilots' frontman Scott Weiland died.

For three decades, Weiland let his voice be heard by leading the rock band and releasing six records with them. He also served as the lead vocalist of Velvet Revolver during his time away from his first band.

As fans marked Scott Weiland's death, here are some details about the American singer - from his net worth to his passing.

Scott Weiland's Net Worth, Career

At the time of his death, Scott Weiland's net worth was around $2 million. Celebrity Net Worth added that the late rock star's estate accrued more than $1 million in royalties after his passing.

He started his career in 1986 when he met Robert DeLeo. The duo formed a band alongside David Allin and Corey Hicock, and they eventually gave birth to Stone Temple Pilots because they followed their favorite initials, "STP."

Weiland and his band garnered popularity after releasing their debut album, "Core." They also proved the strength of their fandom by earning 8x Platinum songs, including "Creep," "Sex Type Thing," "Wicked Garden," and "Plush."

However, they had to pause for a moment and cancel their 1996-1997 shows to allow him to enter rehabilitation.

In 1999, he was imprisoned for five months due to drug possession. Three years later, Stone Temple Pilots disbanded.

He did not stop his music journey there as he made his return to the stage with Velvet Revolver in 2003 and stayed until 2008. After recording an album with Art of Anarchy, his band came back while he also focused on his solo career.

Scott Weiland's Cause of Death

Seven years ago, multiple news outlets revealed that Weiland was found dead inside his tour bus while having a stop in Minnesota. He and his group at that time, the Wildabouts, were scheduled to perform at the Medina Entertainment Center in Medina, Minnesota.

Authorities found a small amount of cocaine inside his tour bus bedroom. The band's bassist, Tommy Black, was also arrested for suspected possession of drugs.
