After his two historic headline performances at Knebworth earlier this year, Liam Gallagher made some usually bold assertions.

After more than 25 years, on June 3 and 4, his former band, Oasis finally returned to the famed arena.

In the November-released Knebworth 22 documentary, Gallagher draws comparisons to other rock luminaries across centuries, saying that he is in the same league as the frontmen of The Rolling Stones, U2, and Led Zeppelin, but that they wouldn't have the prestige to headline Knebworth by themselves.

"Mick Jagger wouldn't be able to do this on his own," he notes (as reported by NME). "Bono wouldn't be able to do this on his own. Robert Plant wouldn't be able to do this on his own." However, he does allow that one Queen legend may have been capable of pulling off the extraordinary accomplishment, saying, "Maybe Freddie Mercury might be, but he's not here, is he?"

After returning to Knebworth 26 years after performing there with Oasis, Gallagher expressed some modesty by saying,"I'm still in shock that I got to play Knebworth two nights, 26 years after I played it with Oasis. I'm still trying to get my head around it. To have played to multiple generations at the same venue so many years apart was beyond Biblical. I'm so glad that we documented it."

Of course, Liam Gallagher isn't the only solo performer to play Knebworth in the previous 20 years, and he certainly isn't the only solo artist to headline Knebworth on consecutive nights. Back in August of 2003, Robbie Williams headlined three consecutive nights at Knebworth.

Liam Gallagher is included in Mad Cool 2023. Mad Cool has unveiled the initial lineup for its festival next year.

The sixth edition of the event will be held in Madrid from July 6-8, 2023. There are already 54 acts confirmed to perform, including Liam Gallagher, The Prodigy, The Black Keys, Queens of the Stone Age, and Lil Nas X.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers will be celebrating their 40th anniversary at the event, while The 1975 will perform their new album 'Being Funny In A Foreign Language' in its entirety, as they have been doing on their current tour. Robbie Williams will also make his Mad Cool debut, while Lizzo will perform in Madrid for the very first time in her career.
