Ozzy Osbourne candidly talked about how it felt like when he found out he was replaced in Black Sabbath following his exit.

Black Sabbath ultimately lost Osbourne in 1977 but immediately replaced him with Ronnie James Dio. He still reunited with the band from 1997 to 2006 before joining them again in 2011 until the band's retirement in 2017.

In a new episode of "Ozzy Speaks" on SiriusXM, Osbourne reflected on the time Dio replaced him and how it felt like when he learned about it.

According to the rocker, it was a tough pill to swallow as he witnessed how he lost the position he held for years.

"At the time I was f**king sad because ... they were the only thing that ever really happened to me," he said, as quoted by Ultimate Classic Rock & Culture.

Osbourne, still, praised his Black Sabbath bandmates for hiring someone completely different rather than casting his "sound-alikes."

His statement resonated with what Tom Iommi told Kerrang!, during which he called Black Sabbath's collaboration with Dio an "exciting period" for them.

Although he approved of the choice, he revealed he never listened to Black Sabbath's albums the band recorded with Dio. He explained that listening to it would be like revisiting a relationship after a divorce.

Dio joined Black Sabbath in 1979 and stayed with it until 1982. He became part of its several albums, including "Heaven and Hell," "Mob Rules," and "Dehumanizer."

Ronnie James Dio Suffered After Replacing Ozzy Osbourne

Unfortunately, Black Sabbath's fans did not accept Dio that easily when he first joined the band.

Dio's wife and longtime manager, Wendy Dio revealed to Danny Stoakes that her husband got booed and spat on as Black Sabbath's music seemingly sounded different when he joined them. She noted that the songs became more melodic and different from the ones Black Sabbath recorded with Osbourne.

With that, Wendy said Osbourne's shoes were hard to fill.

He eventually scored people's approval and played with the band the way he wanted to.

Dio died on May 16, 2010, at the age of 67, following his brave battle with stomach cancer. The musician was diagnosed with the dreaded disease in 2009. He received treatment and underwent chemotherapy before marking his final appearance in April 2010 during the Revolver Golden Gods Awards in Los Angeles.
