Good news for Pearl Jam fans! Stone Gossard confirmed that the band is currently working on their next album and teased them about the sound of their upcoming project; when is it coming out?

The guitarist recently spoke to Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio when he revealed that the group is currently in the process of songwriting and recording materials for their next record.

Their upcoming project is the follow-up to their 2020 album, "Gigaton."

In the interview, as reported by Blabbermouth, Gossard said Pearl Jam is currently taking their time off after finishing up all the makeup tour dates that they canceled three years ago.

The band's current plan is to "do some more recording, and we're gonna try to finish a record here pretty soon."

It appears that the project already made progress as there are songs that are almost done, but there are some that aren't, adding, "we're gonna do something here pretty soon."

Stone Gossard Shares Pearl Jam's Songwriting Process

Elsewhere in the interview, Gossard gave fans an insight into the band's songwriting process, saying they do it different ways every time.

"Sometimes we go in and somebody just brings a riff and we just work it up from the very... 'I've got this and this part,' and everyone just jams on it," he said, revealing that it is usually the best formula for them.

The guitarist then noted that every member of the group—Jeff Ament, Mike McCready, Gossard, Matt Cameron, and Eddie Vedder—writes music and it's a matter of figuring things out.

Now, they wanted to find out what's "different" and "exciting" for them when it comes to their new songs.

Regarding the official release date of their upcoming album, it appears that fans have to wait a little longer as Gossard confirmed that it's probably going to be released in 2024.

As of this writing, the band has yet to reveal the official tracklist and a specific release date of their next album.

The latest interview comes after the band released "Gigaton (Tour Edition)" in celebration of Record Store Day.

It became the event's number-one indie retail piece. In other successes, the album landed at number 33 on the Billboard 200 and was number one on the Top Hard Rock Music Albums chart.
