Sad news for Ellie Goulding's fans, the singer's highly-anticipated comeback album has been delayed and it appears that she initially hesitated about her new record's release date; what was the reason?

Taking to her official Twitter account , the English singer began her statement by apologizing to her supporters, saying she's sorry to announce that her album "Higher Than Heaven" would be delayed.

Initially, it was scheduled to drop next month on February 3, but the pop star announced that the release date would be pushed back to March 24.

The reason why she's delaying the release of her album is because of "exciting opportunities" that she couldn't wait to announce in the future.

"I know you've all been so patient with me but we've had some exciting opportunities appear behind the scenes which I cannot wait to share with you in due course," she wrote.

Goulding added more tweets in the thread by expressing her gratitude to fans. To give her supporters a treat for bearing with her, the musician confirmed that she has a new single coming out soon titled "Like A Savior", and it would be accompanied with a music video, which she considers as one of her favorite videos she'd ever done.

In addition, the "Lights" songstress also noted that she shot something "really exciting" over the past weekend that would drop around her album's release and more details will be coming out soon.

Concluding her statement, the singer thanked her fans for sticking with her and she couldn't wait to drop "Higher Than Heaven" soon.

Ellie Goulding Hesitated Her New Album's Release?

It appears that the pop star hesitated about her new album's release in a previous interview as she seemingly predicted what would happen in the next few months.

Speaking to Billboard, Goulding shared an update about her record in October, saying it's done and she's sure that it would drop on its official release date, but there were times when she would be like "No!" because there are more songs to write.

"I have a couple more songs coming out this year. The next one I'm really excited about. It's one of those songs that isn't a radio song, but something I think people will enjoy," she said at the time.
