Sam Smith Finally Weighs in Whether They're Adele or Not: 'I'm Just in Drag Right Now!'

Have you ever seen Sam Smith and Adele in the same room?

Sam Smith finally addressed the fan theories and rumors surrounding themself and Adele, with the biggest question being: is he really just Adele in drag?

During his appearance at actress Drew Barrymore's show, the "I'm Not The Only One" singer was asked what was the craziest rumor they ever heard about themself.

"Everyone seems to think that I'm Adele in drag," the 30-year-old singer instantly replied. "'Cause we've never been seen in the same room together."

It is unknown who started this absurd rumor, but it has been floating around on the internet since 2018, and obviously, it's popular enough for the person in question to know about it.

"If you slow down her voice, it sounds maybe a bit like mine. So people think that we're the same person, and I'm just in drag right now," they continued.

As per Billboard, the instant costume changes Adele or Smith have to go through must be really intense these days, especially since the "Someone Like You" singer is currently busy with her residency in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, Smith is doing their rounds of performances at various events and shows like "Saturday Night Live" and Studio 8H.

Adele in Drag?

According to Entertainment Weekly, while the pair are obviously two different people, there are definitely some similarities-like how both of them hail from London, England, and they both have stellar voices.

Both Adele and Smith are multi-awarded artists, each having a myriad of awards from the Grammy Awards, Brits Awards, and more.

However, one thing is for certain: they have not collaborated or shared a stage yet, and fans are hoping that they do now.

"The only way I'm gonna believe that [Adele] & [Sam Smith] are two different people is when they Collab on a song together. Nothing else is gonna change my mind," a fan wrote.

"2023 and I'm still patiently waiting for Adele to collab with Sam Smith."

"I used to want Adele and Sam Smith to make a collab album so bad. Ngl I still want at least a song together idc."

"Idk why adele and sam smith ain't together. They should do a collab," another added.

On the other hand, Adele fans are not too happy with the comparison or the theories.

"He's trolling," an Adele fan wrote.

"He's making it up."

"Girl ain't nobody think that of you," another added.
