Singers and artists in the entertainment industry have collaborated with each other almost every day. Working on different movies, various television shows, and even music.

While others collaborate with people they already know, or those who they are good friends with, some people take a chance on working with someone new, in hopes that their collaboration would result in something good.

However, when Katy Perry was asked to collaborate with a new music superstar back in 2016, she did not take a leap of faith in the artist - which has become her regret now.

In a now-viral video posted by 102.7 KIIS FM, Perry recalled a particular instance when she was approached by some of her production collaborators, offering to work with an up-and-coming artist.

"They sent me an email one time that [said],'Hey, check out this new artist. I'd really like us to work with her, because she was working with me for Unsub [Records]," she recalled. "It was a song called 'Ocean Eyes,' and it was just a blonde girl. And I was like, 'Meh, boring.'"

The artist she was referring to was Billie Eilish. Eilish, apart from being a Grammy royalty, is now also a Golden Globe and an Oscar awardee. She was the youngest Grammy awardee to have been recognized for album of the year, record of the year, song of the year, and best new artist, in which she famously all took home the awards later that night.

Perry continued with a wide eye, saying that it was a "huge mistake, big mistake," before jokingly asking everyone to not let the revelation "hit the internet."

"Ocean Eyes" has been one of Eilish's most iconic songs. Although it only reached No. 84 on the Billboard Hot 100, it has already been certified 3x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

But despite the regret that Perry has been feeling since, the two have no bad blood with each other. In fact, they have become friends, Billboard reports. Eilish's Apple TV documentary "The World's A Little Blurry" shows Perry pulling Eilish backstage during the latter's 2019 Coachella performance.

She offered help and told her that should Eilish need any help, understanding the "bizarre" world of the music industry and pop stardom, she should give her a call.
