After the triumph of his film "Elvis," Austin Butler took another risky career move.

In an appearance on "The Graham Norton Show," the 31-year-old award-winning actor acknowledged that his perplexing Memphis accent was faked for the film.

After portraying the late King of Rock'n' Roll in the biopic that was released last year, Austin, who developed a Southern drawl, startled audiences at the Golden Globe Awards by continuing to talk with Elvis' famed voice.

Nearly two years after the movie's production was completed, the actor recently admitted that he is still working to erase the twang.

The ex-boyfriend of Vanessa Hudgens revealed a career-defining choice while explaining why he still sounds like the "Can't Help Falling In Love" singer.

"I am getting rid of the accent, but I have probably damaged my vocal cords with all that singing. One song took 40 takes!"

Irene Bartlett, his former vocal instructor, defended him by saying that Austin's accent is "real" and that it may "remain forever."

She expressed her sympathy for those who think Austin Butler is still acting but that he has adopted the voice of Elvis.

After the Oscar contender won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama while posing with a tacky Southern accent, the internet erupted.

"Has Elvis' spirit taken over Austin Butler? Sir blink twice if you need help," a Twitter user joked.

"So that fake Elvis accent is now just Austin Butler's voice," another individual said.

Meanwhile, Austin Butler said about his Oscar nomination, "It has been a whirlwind and it's amazing because when you are making a film you never really know how it will be received."

The "Carrie Diaries" actor spent three years away from his family as he prepared for the Australian production because he was so focused on nailing his performance as Elvis Presley in the Baz Lurhmann-directed picture.

When Tom Hanks, one of the movie's principal performers, received a COVID diagnosis and was subsequently hospitalized, production of the film was put on hold in march 2020.

However, the set was permanently shut down when the epidemic began.

Austin similarly refused the offer to be flown back to his Los Angeles residence and instead utilized the lockout as an opportunity to become completely engrossed in everything Elvis Presley.
