Mick Mars has already retired from touring with Motley Crue, but his journey as a musician is not over yet.
Mars marked his last tour with Motley Crue in 2022 during the band's Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium show on Sep. 9. Seven weeks after the concert, his representative confirmed Mick Mars' retirement from touring in an exclusive statement to Variety due to his health battles.
Months after the announcement, country rock musician named Cory Marks revealed that Mars is working on a "huge" and "loud" new project. He previously worked with the Motley Crue member in the song "Outlaws & Outsiders" in 2019.
Marks was also featured in the projects of Five Finger Death Punch frontman Ivan Moody and singer-songwriter Travis Tritt.
"Spent my Saturday hanging out with one of the coolest, sweetest, most kind down to earth bad asses on this planet that I'm lucky to call a friend," he wrote on Instagram. "So many stories and a lot of laughs talking music, guns, planes, guitars, drums, travel, road stories (he's got cooler ones than me), health, fitness, zombies, sex, drugs, and rock and roll!"
The country rock musician did not disclose further information about Mars' new material. But the end of the caption hinted at their new collaboration in the future.
Mick Mars' Health Issue
Part of the reason why Mick Mars retired is that his health issues have been affecting his capacity to perform comfortably live with Motley Crue.
His representative confirmed that he was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, which is reportedly causing him pain. According to Versus Arthritis, the condition affects a person's back by causing inflammation in the spine. As a result, the body releases extra calcium around the bones, leading the back and neck to feel stiffer.

In Motley Crue's 2001 biography, "The Dirt," Mars revealed that he has been struggling with the disease since his late teens. His hips reportedly began to hurt whenever he tried to turn his body.
At that time, however, he reportedly did not have money to seek a medical consultation. Unfortunately, it made his condition get worse over the years.
Mars opened up to Metal Sludge about it, as well. He told the publication that his health battle caused him to stop playing guitar for nearly two years.
