Last weekend, many were surprised as Bonnie Raitt's song, Just Like That, bagged the Grammy Award for Song of the Year against some of the most popular singers today like Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, Gayle, Harry Styles and more. Today, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer shared the emotional meaning behind her track.

Taking to her official Facebook account, the musician, who was popular during the 80s era, said she wanted to respond to the messages she's been receiving after getting the big honor.

"I've been so deeply moved, often to tears, reading the personal stories of hundreds of you, some of whom have had no familiarity with me or my music before I won that GRAMMY, and were curious why this song had won," she wrote.

The musician added that many new fans have reached out after the win, telling her that they were moved to tears because they also had a loved who needed an organ donation and their lives were saved because of it.

Raiit noted that the response she's been getting and the stories she heard from the public have inspird her to work on the song and work on anything.

"So many messages from nurses and doctors in the field involved with transplants as well as people who were tragically not able to get an organ in time to save their loved one's life," she added. (via Parade)

There were also stories and messages from family members who wanted to donate their organs to those who needed it, but since it wasn't fulfilled, they felt guilty.

Elsewhere in the post, Raitt added that she's honored that her original track and the news story that inspired her to write the song are both getting attention.

The main story behind her song started a few years ago when she saw something on the television, a woman who was visiting a man who had received her son's heart for the first time. The singer said she "lost it" when the woman put her head on the man's chest to hear her son's beating heart.

After witnessing the emotional story, the singer said she had to write a song because the feeling stayed with her for weeks. To conclude the main story of her track, Raitt said, "I wrote about a fictional woman, Olivia Zand, torn by grief and guilt at the loss of her young son, who finds redemption and grace through the loving act of another."

During the Grammy Awards last weekend, Bonnie Raitt was able to win the Song of the Year Award against Kendrick Lamar with "Part 5," "Break My Soul" by Beyoncé, "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)" by Taylor Swift, and many more.
