Ariana Grande fans have been waiting for crumbs since she last released "Positions" in 2020.

The singer has not released any song yet since then - partly because she was busy focusing on r.e.m. beauty, her beauty line, but mainly because she was announced to be Glinda/Galinda in the movie adaptation of "Wicked" opposite Cynthia Erivo's Elphaba.

Since taking on the role, Grande had been relatively quiet on social media, posting photos of her business and selfies from here in there, but musically speaking, none.

The Weeknd, Ariana Grande 'Die For You' Remix

That is why Ariana Grande fans have been blaming "Wicked" director Jon M. Chu for allegedly holding her hostage.

However, Grande broke the internet the other day when she posted a TikTok video of her recording her part in The Weeknd's new "Die For You" remix.

Chu hopped in on congratulating Grande and The Weeknd for the new release, posting an Instagram story alluding to the jokes and allegations saying that he held Grande hostage for the filming.

"Proof that I am not holding @arianagrande hostage!! Also I'm so excited to hear this. Congrats G!!!" Chu cheekily posted on his Instagram story.

"Honestly I never even considered that he was holding her hostage but now I'm convinced he is," a fan tweeted in response.

"oh he didn't wanna be blamed for ag7 not coming anytime soon," another commented, referencing the fans' anticipation for Ariana Grande's new album.

"We love u uncle jon but give us a snippet or sneak peek or set tease plsss i beg," another asked.
