Amy Grant revealed the main effect of the surgery she received to remove a cyst from her throat.
Grant officially marked her comeback to the music industry after undergoing throat surgery in January. It was just one of the few health-related issues she faced, on top of the bike accident and open heart surgery she went through.
On Wednesday, Grant opened up to Today's Craig Melvin and shared how she discovered a cyst on her throat and underwent a procedure to remove it.
According to the 62-year-old Grammy-winning singer, she was working with a vocalist when she was asked to lean her head back. What seemed to be Adam's apple continuously grew bigger, and it was soon properly diagnosed as a thyroglossal duct cyst.
The Columbia University Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery's official website explains that it is a type of lump or neck mass that develops from cells and tissues on a person's thyroid gland. It reportedly occurs during embryonic development, with most diagnoses made in preschool-aged children or during mid-adolescence.
It also appears following an upper respiratory infection. The cyst can also affects a person's ability to eat and drink, and it can also embed one's ability to sing.
Still, Grant assured her fans that she was feeling better and revealed that the throat surgery made her voice sound better.
"I feel fantastic. I mean, really from 2020 on, I feel like I had to... if I were a car, I've made a lotta trips to the shop," the crooner went on. "And I feel like I'm emerging. I went, 'Oh man, I feel like a classic now.' And actually sort of re-revved up in a really beautiful way."
For Grant's part, the cyst started occurring following her bike accident in July.

In 2022, Grant was hospitalized after sustaining cuts and abrasions when she fell after hitting a pothole while riding her bike in Nashville.
After two days, she was discharged from the hospital by her doctors but still needed additional recuperating time.
As a result, Grant's manager Jennifer Cooke announced that the singer decided to cancel her concerts and reschedule them to ensure her recovery.
"We are amazed at how fast she heals. However, although she is doing much better, we have made the difficult decision to postpone her fall tour so she can concentrate on her recovery and rebuild her stamina," the manager revealed.
