Steve Cain, Critical Khaos singer, has tragically died following a horrifying incident inside his own home.

Fox19 first reported the news Thursday, confirming the occurrence of what was believed to be a murder-suicide.

Sheriff Steve Leahy said the investigators believe that Cain was among the three family members who Theresa Cain shot minutes before deputies arrived at their Ohio home to serve them with eviction papers. They were scheduled to be removed from their foreclosed home, according to the sheriff.

He said that the eviction was a result of Cain's family's financial problems that had lingered for a long time, reportedly leading to the murder-suicide.

The incident left four members - including the singer - dead. A fifth individual - Theresa and Cain's daughter Samantha - survived the shooting but remains in critical condition, and a GoFundMe has since been launched to aid with the bills and other expenses.

Leahy said that the tragic event was "unnecessary."

"'What can we do to keep this from happening again?' Well, I'm just not that sure that we can. When people are in crisis, it's not as easy as just reaching out and saying, 'I need help.' They are spiraling. Nothing makes sense," the sheriff continued.

Murder-Suicide Involving Singer Steve Cain Was Unexpected, Per Sheriff

Leahy added that Theresa had been cooperative throughout the entire process since checking them Monday around 9:40 a.m. The matriarch reportedly asked deputies to give them a few extra hours to pack before they left the foreclosed home.

Before the incident, she also assured the authorities they had a place to go, according to the sheriff.

However, when deputies arrived at the place, Theresa reportedly went inside the house quickly and closed the door. One of the deputies tried knocking on the front and back doors, but no one answered, prompting another deputy to enter the home and call out for her.

However, the authorities heard someone saying "no" repeatedly before a fast succession of gunfire occurred, per the report.

They soon found Theresa dead, along with her son Ethan Cain and father William Felton upstairs.

Her husband was also found lifeless on a couch downstairs, leading deputies to determine that she shot the singer first before shooting her son and father.

Loudwire cited Critical Khaos' statement, which the band released after learning about the tragic news about its singer. According to the group, they were scheduled to perform on May 19 at the Madison Theater.

Even after Cain's death, the band reportedly had to do it because the singer "wanted it so bad" before his death.
