Baby Tate is another artist who is thanking TikTok for her newfound success, after her song "Hey Mickey" went viral on the app, seven years after its release.

 "It's really crazy the things that that app can do," the rapper said when asked how she felt about her song going viral and climbing the Billboard Rap Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts.

"Hey Mickey" is one of the most used and viral songs on the video-sharing app; it interpolates Toni Basil's 1981 hit song "Hey Mickey."

According to reports, Baby Tate's "Hey Mickey" began gaining popularity on TikTok in January, after several KPOP fan edits of their favorite idols surfaced.

Since then, the song has accumulated millions of streams on Spotify and earned her a spot on one of the most coveted music charts in the world.

Baby Tate began her music career by uploading songs on SoundCloud before eventually taking her music live.

"I remember a song doing 300 streams in a day and I was so excited," she continued. "It's so crazy how [our] perspective of success can change."

Just a week earlier, this success brought in enough dough for Baby Tate to finally release a dance video for her viral song.

The video shows Baby Tate dancing along to her song, wearing a cheerleader's uniform as she waved pompoms around.

According to Revolt, the music video pays homage to the original "Hey Mickey," which also followed the same theme.

"I was a huge 'Bring It On' fan," Baby Tate explained, referencing the 2000s chick-flick, "Bring It On."

"I wanted to be a cheerleader real bad but I went to a performing arts high school, so we had no sports at all."

Baby Tate's success with "Hey Mickey" is but one of many success stories that stemmed from TikTok.

According to Pop Sugar, TikTok has had a hand in making years-old songs or even songs that went under the radar an overnight viral hit.

"TikTok's foundation is based on content that's easy to consume and fun," said Hayalsu Altinordu, a content marketing freelancer. "Because of this, lesser-known hip-hop artists have the ability to organically reach millions of people with their own unique and exciting content."

Aside from Baby Tate's "Hey Mickey," TikTok has seen the rise of several songs like Olivia Rodrigo's "Driver's License," Meghan Trainor's "Made You Look," Lady Gaga's "Bloody Mary," and more.
