Riley Keough has been praised heavily for her performance on Amazon Prime's "Daisy Jones & The Six." Playing the titular character in the musical drama series, Keough proved to the world how the talent that she inherited from her late mother, Priscilla Presley, and late grandfather, Elvis Presley, is on display.

Since Daisy Jones is a fictional character and was not directly based on a real-life singer, Riley Keough's inspiration for tapping into the character had to come from various artists.

Daisy Jones' Inspiration

According to Esquire, the fictional band is partially based on the band Fleetwood Mac, with Daisy Jones being figuratively compared to the likes of Stevie Nicks and the late Christine McVie.

While the two female music icons are great sources of Daisy Jones inspiration, Keough revealed that she was not basing her character on female musicians or singers, contrary to what others might have assumed.

Ironically, the Daisy Jones inspiration comes from Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin.

Speaking to Porter Magazine, Keough revealed that she felt like Daisy Jones was "ahead of her time" as a frontwoman of a band in the 1970s, which prompted her to look for male artists for Daisy Jones' inspiration.

"I was like, 'I'm not going to exclusively look at women; I want to look at Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. I pulled influence from men because I felt like Daisy was ahead of her time in terms of how open and how willing she was to go into a space and be confident. I think that was really hard for women to do," she admitted to the magazine.

In playing Daisy Jones, Keough said that she had watched many videos of singers during the 1970s era to study their movements. However, she noted that there wasn't freedom for women at the time, which was evidently shown in their onstage behavior.

"It was much more restricted in the 1970s, so I struggled with that because my body movements are so inherently of my generation," she furthered.

Daisy Jones' Inspiration & The Presley Family

Furthermore, Riley Keough revealed that the other Daisy Jones inspiration she taps into is her own family.

In the series, it is depicted that Daisy has some sort of substance abuse.

Per Keough, since this was something that she experienced in her own family, she wanted to make sure that it wasn't "glamorous" when she portrayed them on-screen, making sure that those moments had "weight" and that they were "seeing the humanity behind the closed doors of what people are perceiving to be glamour."

In the book, "Elvis: What Happened?" it was inferred that the King of Rock and Roll had succumbed to drug misuse, which reportedly caused his many health bouts that presumably contributed to his tragic demise.
