Many fans are excited to attend ABBA's upcoming shows so some of them already planned their costumes and outfits to match the vibe of the event. However, if you're planning to attend their concert wearing a 70s-inspired outfit, you might want to change your decision.

According to the Daily Mail UK, concertgoers are excited to wear their vintage outfits for the band's upcoming "Voyage" shows, but promoters for the event announced that they will be banning the use of afro wigs.

In an e-mail from the show's organizers, as received by attendees, promoters noted that many of the fans wanted to get in the spirit of the hologram concert by dressing up for the occasion. However, supporters were asked not to wear afro wigs because they are "culturally insensitive."

"These wigs are culturally insensitive and not appropriate to be worn as fancy dress. If any guests are wearing this style of wig they will be respectfully asked to remove them as a condition of entry to the arena," the letter reads.

Some ABBA Fans Disagree With Promoters' Decision to Ban Afro Wigs

A fan named Jennifer Barlow spoke to the outlet and noted that she went to the concert recently where she witnessed many people wearing fancy dresses.

She clarified that no one was being offensive when they wanted to dress up as an homage to the band, adding, "It's a shame that we are now so frightened to offend people that we are taking life too seriously."

The outlet noted that the wigs have been banned from the event since they kicked off the hologram concert last year as the rule was posted in their "frequently asked questions" section.

ABBA Voyage 2023

The band, or at least their virtual selves, has been performing in London for the ABBA Voyage. The series of concerts features the holographic versions of members Agnetha Faltskig, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Anni-Frid Lyngstad AKA Frida, and Benny Andersson.

The concert is backed by a live band and runs for 90 minutes. The virtual members, popularly known as "Abbatars," will perform 22 songs featuring some of their biggest hits like "Mamma Mia," "Waterloo," and many more.

The show will run until January 2024 and producers have been planning to bring ABBA Voyage to international stages in the future for a world tour.
