John Lennon and May Pang's relationship is the subject of an upcoming documentary.

Premiering on April 13, the documentary "The Last Weekend" will focus on The Beatles member's 18-month romance with his and Yoko Ono's secretary. The film will hit theaters amid Pang's busy photo exhibitions in New York and Philadelphia.

In the documentary's preview, the now-72-year-old artist recounted her time with the late singer, including her refusal of Ono's offer to become Lennon's girlfriend.

May Pang Says She Respected John Lennon, Yoko Ono's Marriage

In 1973, Pang started working as Lennon and Ono's personal secretary. But she had a more intimate relationship with the "Hey Jude" crooner, although she disapproved of it at first.

Speaking about the scenes in "The Last Weekend" preview, Pang told People how Ono asked her to fill the time she would be away from Lennon because she "wanted time apart." With that, she aimed for Pang to become Lennon's new girlfriend until she comes back.

According to Pang, she respected their marriage so much that she refused to do it. She added that she was already happy being their secretary.

She admitted in the documentary that, however, she gave in when Lennon himself "charmed the pants off" her. Their relationship soon led them to decide to move in together in New York City, leading her to meet more A-list musicians as she came with Lennon everywhere he went.

"He was just an interesting person. He really loved everything, and wanted to explore," Pang said. "He loved to get up, have his coffee in the morning. He loved blueberry pancakes, he loved swimming. He was just an awesome person who wanted to discover things."

May Pang, John Lennon Broke Up After 18 Months

Pang and Lennon's relationship got stronger because of their love for music. Even The Beatles members McCartney and Harrison supported their relationship as they told her they were happy she was with Lennon.

However, Ono's presence became more prominent again, calling The Beatles member at least 15 times a day despite their plans to get a divorce in 1974.

It never happened, and the two reconciled again, leaving Pang behind.

After 18 months of dating, Pang and Lennon broke up. The split, for her, was so difficult since she did not get the chance to have closure. Still, the singer reportedly visited her secretly and told him how much he still loved her.

The setup reportedly lasted for years until his death in 1980.

After that experience, Pang now says she feels nothing but gratitude for the time she shared with Lennon.
