Billy Joel is bidding his final goodbye at Madison Square Garden soon as he is due to cap off his longstanding residency at the iconic concert ground.
This has generated a steady income flow for Joel and the venue after their ten long years of partnership.
Billy Joel Ends Madison Square Garden Residency
According to a Variety report, Billy Joel and Madison Square Garden Entertainment announced its end of partnership earlier today, Jun. 1, 2023.
Officially, the final Billy Joel Madison Square Garden concert will end on July 2024 after ten long years of performing at the said venue. By the time the residency concludes, he would have performed 150 shows. So far, he has sold more than 1.6 million tickets throughout his long stint.
"Billy Joel's franchise run has made history - not only for Madison Square Garden, but also for the music industry overall. 150 sold out lifetime shows is a remarkable achievement and speaks to Billy's extraordinary talent, beloved catalog, and dedicated fanbase," MSG CEO, James Dolan said in a statement to the publication.
Per Dolan, Joel will always have a home at Madison Square Garden despite the residency coming to a close.
As for New York City Mayor Eric Adams, he described that Joel's concert at Madison Square Garden makes up the unique culture of the city.
"For more than 50 years, Billy's music has defined our city and brought us together. On behalf of 8.5 million New Yorkers, congratulations, Billy, on a historic run of sold-out shows at MSG, and thank you for a lifetime of bringing joy to us all," he told the music icon.
According to the publication, the last ten shows of Billy Joel Madison Square Garden residency will begin on Oct. 20, 2023, and is expected to end on Jul. 20, 2024.

How to Buy Tickets For Billy Joel Madison Square Garden Residency?
Tickets will be sold starting Jun. 5, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. for the Citi card members presale until Jun. 8, 2023.
On Jun. 6, the Verizon exclusive presale for the Billy Joel Madison Square Garden residency tickets will start at 10:00 a.m. and ends on Jun. 8, 2023, too.
The general sale for the Billy Joel Madison Square Garden residency will begin on Jun. 9, 2023, via Ticketmaster and at the MSG Box office on Jun. 10, 2023.
