The music world has been saddened by the news that Cynthia Weil, a beloved songwriter, and Grammy Award winner, passed away at 82.

Her daughter revealed to TMZ on Thursday evening.

The songwriter's daughter, Dr. Jenn Mann, said, "My mother, Cynthia Weil, was the greatest mother, grandmother and wife our family could ever ask for."

"She was my best friend, confidant and my partner in crime and an idol and trailblazer for women in music."

The 1960s through the 1990s saw an array of popular songs, many crafted by the lyricist and her writing partner and husband Barry Mann.

Unquestionably, one of their most famous compositions is The Righteous Brothers' "You've Lost that Lovin' Feeling."

This classic was released in 1964, and the performing rights organization BMI has certified it as one of the most-played songs of the 20th century.

Cynthia has given many a collection of chart-topping singles over time. This includes Dolly Parton's "Here You Come Again," George Benson's "On Broadway," "Uptown" by a renowned vocal group, Crystals, and "We Gotta Get Out of This Place," initially performed by Animals.

This particular track from Dolly Parton remains one of her most popular hits, launching her career into a new level of success.

Together Cynthia Weil and her husband made hits like Paul Revere and Raiders' "Kicks," "Walking in Rain" by Ronettes, and Chaka Khan's "Through The Fire" also used for Kanye West's debut single "Through The Wire."

Altogether their singles have sold an astounding 200 million copies around the globe.

In 2010, Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann made history by becoming the first duo to be bestowed with the Ahmet Ertegun Award from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This was just one of many career accomplishments for both artists, including being presented with the National Academy of Songwriters Life Achievement Award.

Subsequently, after close to sixty years in music, Cynthia shifted her focus and became a successful author of young adult novels.
