Foo Fighters are with their fans as they take baby steps in playing music again without Taylor Hawkins.

Frontman Dave Grohl expressed his and his bandmates' gratitude toward fans in an emotional letter as Foo Fighters perform in the shows without drummer, Taylor Hawkins. The band has since started promoting again in May and would play in more venues through January 2024 with the new drummer, Josh Freese.

Dave Grohl Grateful For Foo Fighters' Fans

The Foo Fighters singer released a touching letter on Twitter addressed to fans who have been with them in their journey. Grohl noted he felt "compelled" to write it since Foo Fighters ran their first set of shows.

"Every night, when I see you singing, it makes me sing harder. When I see you screaming, it makes me scream louder. When I see your tears, it brings me to tears," he wrote. "And when I see your joy, it brings me joy. But, I see you ... and it feels good to see you, churning up these emotions together."

Grohl thanked fans for staying beside them and expressed his excitement to see everyone soon. He shared the same handwritten letter on the band's official Instagram page, to which fans replied that they are also thankful to Foo Fighters for returning and making music again after all that happened.

Aside from Hawkins' death, the Foo Fighters singer also suffered a loss when his mother, Virginia Hanlon Grohl, passed away. The matriarch and the drummer both became part of the band's newest album, "But Here We Are," which was reportedly created to address "the grief process through personal loss."

Foo Fighters Next Schedule

Foo Fighters announced that they would continue playing as a band even after the death of their drummer, tapping Freese to fill in the touring drummer position and keep Hawkins' legacy burning.

The band also worked with Hawkins' 17-year-old son, Shane, at the Boston Calling Music Festival to perform "I'll Stick Around."

Foo Fighters are set to resume their tour on June 14 in Rogers, Arkansas, and their 2023 tour will continue until the end of the summer at the two-weekend shows at Austin City Limits in Austin, Texas, on Oct. 7 and 14.
