Dolly Parton selected one song to be played at her funeral instead of Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You."

Parton has a long list of heartfelt songs that the public definitely used at their loved ones' funerals. While the tracks could be played at her own funeral in the future, she selected her father's favorite song instead.

Dolly Parton Selects Funeral Song

In a past interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 77-year-old "Coat of Many Colors" crooner revealed that her late father's favorite song was "If We Never Meet Again," which was recorded by Brown's Ferry Four in 1946.

According to Parton, the track was played at her father's funeral - and she wanted to have it, as well.

"It's an old country-gospel church song that talks about if we never meet again this side of heaven, I will meet you on that beautiful shore. 'Where the charming roses bloom forever and where separations come no more,'" she shared. "That was my daddy's favorite."

However, she believes that her loved ones would play "I Will Always Love You" instead, which was also presented at Whitney Houston's funeral. Parton said hearing the song made her realize that the singer was already gone, but she does not want it at her ceremony.

Parton also showed her love for the song in her 1974 track, "Sacred Memories," by including the same lyric she mentioned in her interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Dolly Parton's Health

While Parton is already preparing for her funeral, the singer remains strong and fit despite her previous health issues. She even worked on her double album, "Rock Star," which featured A-list artists, including Steve Perry, Paul McCartney, Duran Duran's Simon LeBon, and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler.

In 2022, a report made her fans worried as it claimed she was suffering from a dangerous disease that caused her to be on life support. The rumors were immediately dismissed, but several reports talked about the health issues she suffered from over the past years.

Parton underwent surgery to remove her kidney stones but did not suffer from any complications despite her age at the time of the procedure. She also debunked the rumors that she was suffering from stomach cancer.
