Dan + Shay, consisting of singers Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, have been entertaining fans since they launched in 2013, but there was a time in their careers when they almost disbanded. Fortunately, they were able to save their professional relationship and continued making more music; check out all the details below.
The duo took to their official YouTube channel to share a video titled "The Drive" where the two went on a road trip to discuss random things in life.
In one part of the clip, they revealed that they almost disbanded in 2021 despite having massive and successful careers. At the time, they just got off tour and they already have three Grammy awards under their belts.
"I was in, like, the lowest low of my entire life. Came off the road, and I was like, 'Man, I f---ing hate music. I'm ready to quit,'" Smyers said in the video. (via People Magazine)
Mooney responded and told his partner that he could "feel the separation" and there were "little things" between the two of them that they never really tackled with each other.
In addition, the lowest period in their career also affected their marriages to their wives and there was a point where the two of them never spoke with each other for four months.
Dan + Shay Managed to Make Up and Address Their Issues
Finally, in March 2022, they addressed their personal issues and came up with a solution.
"Whether we break up and we hug it out and say, 'Man, this has been the best 10 years of our life,' or we say, 'Man, this is a launching off point. This is a new beginning. This is a chance for a whole new outlook on life,'" Smyers said.

Mooney then noted that they never had time to appreciate their success, even their Grammy wins, because, for them, a lot of things happened in a short span of time.
Although the two didn't share what exactly they talked about in March 2022, Mooney said it "changed everything" and it was a big turning point for their careers.

The recent video comes after the band made a big move on social media as they finally returned to different platforms after taking a break for months.
Their social media accounts profile pictures were changed to a photo of them together sitting on grass while a big plus sign can be seen in the middle.
In addition, there was also a mysterious pre-save link that states that new music is coming out on July 14, 2023.
