In most families, children are those who are heavily affected when their parents file for a legal separation as there would be divorce proceedings, the battle for custody, and the likes.

This is what happened to Kelly Clarkson's children in which she claimed that they questioned the concept of love after their parents broke up.

According to Page Six, the "American Idol" winner sat down with hosts Penn Badgley, Nava Kavelin, and Sophie Ansari in an episode of the "Podcrushed" podcast where she revealed that her kids were affected after the divorce, and even asked questions about their futures.

"When you do go through a divorce, especially with young kids, the definition of love comes up quite a bit," she said.

Their separation even made one her kids ask, "so you don't love daddy anymore?"

Clarkson handled the question like a true parent and told her children that she love that their father, Brandon Blackstock, gave them to her and explained that they don't like each other like they did before.

"It's hard. and then it's hard when they go, 'Why don't I have a grandpa from you? You told me love is different with a parent and a child than with a husband and a wife. But it's not because your dad left you,'" she added, referencing her relationship with her father Stephen.

According to People Magazine, the talk show host met her ex-husband while she was rehearsing for the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2006.

They later got engaged in 2012 and tied the knot a few months after. They share two children together named River Rose and Remington Alexander.

The music executive had children from his past marriage named Seth and Savannah, whom he shares with ex-wife Melissa Ashworth.

In 2020, Clarkson filed for divorce and their legal separation was finalized in 2022.

The divorce proceedings for the couple were gruesome as all aspects of their marriage were tackled, as well as the future of their children about legal custody.

In 2021, the pop star was awarded the $10.4 million ranch in Montana, which she paid for, after Blackstock claimed that it was conjugal property and it should be shared equally between them.
