Lisa Marie Presley's cause of death left her pals as shocked as they felt when the news about her passing emerged.
Months after Marie Presley's death, the official documents revealed that Elvis Presley's only daughter died of strangulated small bowel. This was reportedly caused by adhesions developed after undergoing a weight loss operation called bariatric surgery years prior to her death.
Although the medical issue is a common complication of the surgery, her pals reportedly did not know anything about it even the procedure itself.
Lisa Marie Presley Underwent Weight Loss Surgery Secretly
Following the confirmation of Presley's cause of death, one of her close pals exclusively spoke to a news outlet, revealing that her friends were all baffled by the fact that she went under the knife, especially since she was never at an at-risk weight.
The unnamed pal told Page Six that the late "Lights Out" singer, who died in January, never looked like she needed to undergo bariatric surgery. They shared their concerns that she probably received it from an untrustworthy physician, leading to the complication.

"She was not big at all," the pal said. "I don't know what kind of doctor would perform this surgery on her."
The source added that they knew about her other cosmetic enhancements, including Botox and injectables, but they were reportedly unaware of the major surgery.
Lisa Marie Presley Wanted To Look "Good"
On the other hand, fellow ex-Scientologist Jeffrey Augustine, who is also Presley's friend, shared (per Radar Online) that the "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" hitmaker wanted to look good despite her age.
Presley marked her last public appearance at the Gold Globes red carpet event to support Baz Luhrmann's film about Elvis Presley, "Elvis" biopic.
Augustine said Presley had a crash diet to lose 40 pounds before attending the event, and her financial struggles also forced her to make an appearance. Like the unnamed pal, Augustine revealed that discovering how the "Nobody Noticed It" singer died from bariatric surgery also left him surprised.
Aside from the weight loss procedure, the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office also confirmed in the document that they traced drugs in her system, including "therapeutic levels" of Oxycodone, Buprenorphine, and Quetiapine.
