Sinead O'Connor has not released a new album in almost a decade, so when she excitedly shared with her fans earlier this month that she was finally back taking trips to the studio in preparation for a new album, fans were thrilled.

The "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer also revealed in the same social media post that the new album would have an accompanying tour along with it.

"Hi All, recently moved back to London after 23 years [of] absence. Very happy to be home," she wrote. "Soon finishing my album. Release early next year. Hopefully Touring Australia and New Zealand toward [the] end [of] 2024. Europe, USA, and other territories beginning early 2025."

According to reports, O'Connor was also planning to have her 2021 memoir "Rememberings" be adapted into a biopic.

The news was corroborated and confirmed by the late singer's frequent collaborator, Kenneth and Carl Papenfus from 67 Management, "Sinead was completing her new album, reviewing new tour dates for 2024, and considering opportunities in relation to a movie of her [2021] book [Rememberings].

"Wonderful plans were afoot at this time. Testament and tribute to those who have put their hearts first for Sinead, to whom we are forever grateful."

Sinead O'Connor's Sudden Death

O'Connor's untimely demise was announced on social media by her family through a statement: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinead.

"Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time."

When the singer was found "unresponsive" in her London home on Wednesday morning, people feared the worst.

Many speculated that she had taken her own life or had accidentally died of mysterious circumstances.

However, updates from the London Metropolitan Police refuted the claims that O'Connor had died of suspicious means.

Sinead O'Connor 'Rememberings'

With the late singer gone, fans wonder if O'Connor's upcoming album would even be released at all. Some wish that her management would consider dropping it as a posthumous album.

As of this writing, there is no confirmation on whether the album or O'Connor's biopic will be unveiled to the public anytime soon.

According to reports, "Rememberings" follows O'Connor's highs and lows throughout her life as well as the highly controversial incident when she tore up a picture of the Pope many years back.

She wrote "I define success by whether I keep the contract I made with the Holy Spirit before I made one with the music business. I never signed anything that said I would be a good girl."
