The 1975 Self-Titled Album

The band's debut self-titled album was recorded around June to September 2012 and March 2013 under their record label Dirty Hit.

It was released on September 2, 2013. At the time of its release, the group already had four EPs and they toured around the United Kingdom and other cities around the world in order to have momentum for their album.

Although the album was labeled as rock, fans would often describe it as a mixture of different genres like electropop, emo, pop punk, indie pop, and many more.

However, frontman Matty Healy described it as "pretty experimental" as it has influences of R&B as well as '80s powerpop and '90s soul in their own unique way.
