Country music legend Kris Kristofferson's Californian ranch has been put up for sale at $17.2 million, and his friends are saying that it might be due to his final days.

His ranch is a 557-acre oceanfront ranch, according to a Taste of Country.

Reportedly, the father of eight is worth an estimated $50 million and currently lives on Hawaii's Maui in the town of Hana with his third wife, Lisa Meyers. Luckily, the area narrowly evaded the deadly wildfires recently.

In 2013, an Alzheimer's diagnosis was given to the Blade vampire killer. However, it wasn't until later that physicians came to a different conclusion - Kris' memory loss and other symptoms were due to Lyme disease.

After treatment with medicine, Kris retired from music in 2021.

Close friends reported how they could observe him gradually slowing down over time with age.

One source told Radar Online, "Kris didn't feel he was up to touring anymore."

"Now, he just wants to make things easier for his family by turning his holdings into cash that will go to them when he's gone."

Several moons ago, Kris Kristofferson went public with his medical battles and inaccurate diagnosis. He experienced memory loss, which was initially diagnosed as Alzheimer's disease.

It wasn't until later that they discovered the cause to be a tick-borne illness.

According to reports from Closer Weekly, symptoms of dementia can be very indicative of a diagnosis of the somewhat invisible illness known as Lyme Disease.

Years ago, a friend reported: "For six or seven years, there has been this slow realization that he was becoming increasingly forgetful. It was undeniable."

However, it's best to take these outlet's reports with a grain of salt.

Lisa, Kris's wife, and his eight children have seen a dramatic change in him- one which could be considered a modern-day medical miracle. After the ruling out of Alzheimer's, the transformation was remarkable; what was previously 20 years of decline had been reversed.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Kris Kristofferson's wife attributed her husband's fragile mental condition to the physical trauma he sustained during sports such as boxing, football, and rugby.

The extent of memory impairment was so significant that it caused problems on a day-to-day basis; Kris did not know what to do next or where he was headed.

Lisa noted that Kris was prescribed medications for conditions that had not been accurately diagnosed.

These, she explained, could have adverse reactions. Additionally, she marked out the period when infection likely occurred - during the 2006 filming of Disappearances in a Vermont forest. She believes this to be the source of the tick-borne virus.
