Steve Harwell Retirement From Smash Mouth

The recent health update from Steve Harwell comes a few years after he took the stage of The Big Sip Festival at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in New York where his performance was described as "chaotic" by online fans.

At the time, the musician had problems with speaking to the crowd as most of the words coming out of his mouth were slurred.

There was also a point wherein he shouted curse words towards the attendees and even threatened to kill them.

Following that specific performance, Smash Mouth's publicist announced that Harwell would be retiring from his duties as a vocalist to focus on his physical and mental health because prior to that, he had suffered from "long term medical issues."

"Steve has been dealing with long term medical issues over the last 8 years and during his last performance he suffered numerous symptoms directly linked with his current medical situation," the announcement reads. (via SFGate)
