Steve Harwell, the main singer of Smash Mouth, may have appeared to have a glamorous life full of sold-out shows and great success from the outside. However, the musician endured a barrage of devastating blows behind the scenes, such as the death of his young son, several failed relationships, accusations of "verbal and mental abuse" from an ex, and a continuous fight with alcohol misuse.

This makes the news of his untimely passing even harder to bear.

This week, it was revealed that the adored celebrity passed away at the age of 56 from advanced liver failure.

This marked the end of an amazing career and a life full of suffering.

The "All Star"  musician, who gained notoriety in the early 1990s with bandmates Greg Camp, Paul De Lisle, and Kevin Coleman, experienced his first heartbreaking loss in 2001 when his six-month-old child died of leukemia.

After their kid passed away, Harwell and his then-wife Michelle Laroque divorced because it was too much for them to handle. Although Steve made every effort to conceal his turbulent personal life from the public, it came back to light in 2019 after one of his ex-girlfriends filed for a restraining order against him on charges of "harassing," "drinking" too much, "stealing," and "threatening" her.

FEMAIL explored his turbulent love life as the world grapples with his tragic death, covering everything from the bombshell accusations his ex made about him to the new woman he was dating at the time of his death.

For many years, Steve was wed to Michelle Laroque, although not much is known about their marriage due to her intense privacy. Presley, the kid they brought into their family in January 2001, tragically died at the age of six months from complications resulting from acute lymphocytic leukemia. Days before he passed away, the couple only found out that their child was ill, according to a Billboard article from the time. They were heartbroken and could only take one day at a time, in order to cope.

There were no other children that Steve and Michele shared. At some time after that, they quietly parted ways, though it's unclear when exactly because they're so secretive.

He eventually got engaged to another woman again.

What transpired between Steve Harwell and Esther Campbell, his former fiancée? She obtained a restraining order against the musician in 2020 after accusing him of "verbal and mental abuse."

News of a woman called Esther Campbell filing for a restraining order against the singer surfaced online in September 2019. She claimed in court filings filed in May 2020 that she had experienced "verbal and mental abuse" from Steve during their relationship.

The two had been dating for a year when TMZ revealed at the time that they had become engaged a month earlier. However, Esther claimed that after the proposal, Steve'started bombarding her with harassing texts and calls' and was engaging in 'threatening behavior,' according to court documents seen by the publication.

In addition, Esther claimed that he was bipolar and had stopped taking his medicine for the mental illness. She was given a temporary restraining order by a judge.

Things with his current girlfriend seems to be going alright, but this tragedy struck.

Annette Jones was by his side when he passed away this week; they had been dating in secret for two years.

Rest in Peace, Steve.
