Doja Cat's "Paint The Town Red" is officially the first No. 1 rap song of 2023 as it managed to peak at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

Notably, Doja Cat had a reduced impact this year after lashing out on her fans on social media.

According to Billboard, "Paint The Town Red" amassed more than 32 million radio airplay impressions, which is an increase of 14% since last week's spot at No. 3. Streaming also beefed up the units this week as it drew 27.7 million streams, and sold 8,000 units.

Currently, the song is at No. 2 on the Streaming Songs Chart, No. 5 on Digital Song Sales, and No. 15 on Radio Songs. It is a new peak for both the Digital Song Sales Chart and Radio Songs Chart.

Thanks to this feat, Doja Cat bagged her second No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and her first solo track. Notably, "Say So" with Nicki Minaj was the last one to hit No. 1.

It is her first No. 1 track without any featured collaborator. The rise of the track at the top also brought Dionne Warwick, Burt Bacharach, and Hal David to the charts because Doja sampled the song "Walk on By."

'Paint The Town Red' The First No. 1 Rap Song of 2023

Aside from achieving a career first, Doja Cat's "Paint The Town Red" has officially become the first No. 1 rap song in over a year and the first No. 1 rap song of the year.

Nicki Minaj's "Super Freaky Girl" was the last rap song to reach No. 1. Doja Cat broke the 54-week streak of Minaj. Since then, rap songs have only reached No. 2 on the chart, including Lil Durk's J.Cole, Drake, and 21 Savage.

Aside from this, the song also halted the country genre domination as in the past six weeks, four different country songs have occupied the top spot.

Initially debuting at No. 15, "Paint The Town Red's" chart journey was an uphill climb and it took her five weeks to reach the top.

The feat was quite special and laudable as Doja Cat had a falling out with her fans earlier this year. With less support than anticipated, the song had a lower debut placement.
