Meryl Streep is known for not reprising her characters on a sequel despite the massive success of its first movie.

However, it seemed like for "Mamma Mia 3," Streep might be willing to make an exception.

Meryl Streep in 'Mamma Mia 3' Possible?

Speaking to Vogue recently, Meryl Streep discussed the idea that she might be open to returning for her role as Donna Sheridan in the "Mamma Mia" franchise.

She confessed that she's "up for anything" if producer Judy Craymer decides to continue the sequel with a trilogy.

"I'll have to schedule a knee scoping before we film, but if there's an idea that excites me, I'm totally there. I told Judy if she could figure out a way to reincarnate Donna, I'm into that," she told the publication.

Notably, in the second film, "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again" Streep's character Donna died of cancer, only for Lily James to play her in the film as her younger self. (via Comic Book Resource)

Asked what she thought and how could she possibly be in the third movie, Streep had this to say: "It could be like in one of those soap operas where Donna comes back and reveals it was really her twin sister that died."

'Mamma Mia 3' Coming Soon?

Currently, Meryl Streep plays a guest character on Hulu's "Only Murders in the Building," where she gets to showcase her singing skills again.

Streep did return to shoot a few scenes for the second movie, but it was rather brief.

Jody Craymer also spoke to Vogue explaining what prompted her to kill off Donna on the second film.

"I was chastised on social media for killing off Meryl, but I promise I didn't do it on purpose!" she admitted. "She was hesitant about doing another film because she doesn't typically do sequels. But I know she loved coming back to film her scenes for Here We Go Again! She felt the love around her and the joy of reuniting with those people, so I think that made her more open to the prospect of a third."

As for the lead actress Amanda Seyfried, she is also down to reprise her character for a third film.

"Nobody is saying no, but nobody is saying yes either. The powers that be probably can't afford us to be honest. I hate to say it, because would I do Mamma Mia 3 for free-of course I would-but that's not the business we're in," she admitted. "What's fair is fair, and I feel like a third film is gonna come down to something stupid like whether or not Universal wants to pay the money."
