On Instagram, Cradle of Filth vocalist Dani Filth expressed their sadness after learning about Kennedy's passing. He called the former bassist a great musician and singer "who filled in for Cradle at a time of such magical import, mayhem and mischief."

He went on to remember the time they spent at his mother's house in 1995 and shared what they did for a week at that time.

"We picked our own magic mushrooms from a local football pitch and then watched Emperor synch up with the newly-released Disney 'Aladdin' on VHS, heading out to undertake Black Metal shenanigans thereafter," he continued. "We were always pulling pranks and playfully winding each other up back in those days."

Filth ended his post by sharing how Kennedy will be missed after his passing. He did not disclose Jon Kennedy's cause of death.

Kennedy joined the band in 1994 and became part of the original recording of Cradle of Filth's 1996 album, "Dusk and Her Embrace."

The band soon re-recorded it with a different lineup before dropping the original release in 2016 with the title "Dusk and Her Embrace (The Original Sin)."

After his exit in 1995, Kennedy started focusing on another band.

In 1992, Amethyst and Daemonum was formed but soon changed its name to Hecate Enthroned. The band welcomed Kennedy in 1995 and became its vocalist until 1998.

The late bassist then played in the band's first two studio albums: 1997's "The Slaughter of Innocence, A Requiem for the Mighty" and 1998's "Dark Requiems... and Unsilent Massacre."

In a separate tribute message, Hecate Enthroned wrote on Facebook that the members are devastated by Kennedy's demise.

"Our thoughts and hearts are with his wonderful family at this incredibly difficult time," part of the statement read. "As we mourn our brother please be mindful of his family and respect their space. But please raise the horns for Jon."

It also promoted a GoFundMe page to help Kennedy's family after his passing.
