Stevie Nicks has all but confirmed that after the sad passing of Christine McVie in November 2022, Fleetwood Mac will no longer be performing.

This suggests that this beloved band is nearing its end, she revealed in an interview with Vulture.

The changes resulting from the passing of Christine have been deeply felt by Mick Fleetwood, who shared that sentiment with the Los Angeles Times in February.

His comment was clear: "I think right now, I truly think the line in the sand has been drawn with the loss of Chris."

"We're done, but then we've all said that before. It's unthinkable right now."

Stevie told Vulture about her late friend and colleague, Christine McVie.

She expressed an emotion that many can relate to: the loss of an irreplaceable companion.

"You just can't replace her," she said. " Without her, what is it? You know what I mean? She was like my soul mate, my musical soul mate, and my best friend that I spent more time with than any of my other best friends outside of Fleetwood Mac. Christine was my best friend."

Drawing on Taylor Swift's lyrics for comfort, Stevie shared her feelings on being 'on your own.'

"I think about the line in 'You're On Your Kid' - we always had been; we protected each other," he said. "But without Christine there behind her Hammond organ... I figured going further wouldn't be meaningful anymore."

Stevie also went on to gush about Christine McVie's songwriting.

"And her songs, you take out all those songs. Christine was the pop star. She wrote all those super pop hits. None of the rest of us could write those songs."

"What would happen is we'd have to take the songs out, like we did when she retired after 18 years. We couldn't re-create those songs. So we became a much more hard-rock band."

Christine McVie Real Cause of Death

On November 30, 2022, Christine McVie reportedly died after a short illness.

According to a death certificate acquired by People and first reported by The Blast, it was a stroke that took away an iconic star, with cancer cited as a secondary cause of death.

The National Institute of Health has reported that Christine experienced an ischemic stroke when the brain did not receive enough oxygenated blood. This can cause severe damage to targeted regions of the skull.

The National Cancer Institute states that medical professionals could not locate the source of metastatic malignancy identified in her body. This is also referred to as having an unknown primary origin.

Stevie Nicks also publicly stated her sorrow upon the news of her former bandmate's passing, expressing that "A piece of my heart has gone with her today... I am going to miss everything about her."
