Where is disgraced pop star Gary Glitter now?

Glitter - born Paul Francis Gadd - notably established his empire starting in the 1960s. However, he saw it crumbled down when he was convicted of downloading child pornography in 1999 and was named in child sexual abuse convictions in 2006 and 2015.

After losing everything all at once, Glitter has yet to make his way up again.

Gary Glitter's Latest Update Amid Child Sexual Abuse Case Revealed

The Sun cited the confirmation from the chair of the Parole Board of England and Wales, Caroline Corby, who disclosed that a parole hearing for the 79-year-old musician would be held behind closed doors on January 24.

The parole decision usually becomes available within two weeks, and Glitter could have his freedom once the parole was approved.

However, the recent hearing garnered condemnation from Richard Scorer, a representative for one of his victims.

"My client wants him locked up for as long as possible and I hope the Parole Board will take a common sense view, put public safety first and ensure he stays behind bars," he said. "Anything else would be madness."

Social media users offered the same reactions after the decision.

One said on X, "Evil f------ like this should be strung up and got shot off for good. These predators will never change."

"Keep this perv in jail," another added.

Gary Glitter's Controversy Explored

Glitter reportedly started preying on young victims while enjoying his fame in the 1970s.

In 1999, he was sent to prison after authorities found child abuse images on his laptop. While he hid in Cuba, he was deported for suspected child abuse in 2002 but jetted to Vietnam afterward where he was jailed for abusing two girls in 2006.

His third victim, who was reportedly less than 10 years old, suffered from his abuse when he crept into her bed and tried to rape her in 1975.

The disgraced singer then returned to the U.K. in 2015 after traveling to the countries where sex tourism is prominent.

After his acts were publicized, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison in 2015 but was released before the sentence ended. He was locked up again for breaching his license when he was seen viewing videos of children.
