"Schmigadoon" creator Cinco Paul announced on Twitter/X that the third season of the beloved Apple TV musical series "Schmigadoon" has been canceled by the streaming giant.

Since then, fans have taken to social media to voice out their frustrations, urging other streaming platforms to salvage the show.

'Schimgadoon' Canceled: Why?

According to a statement shared on Cinco Paul's Twitter/X account, Apple would not be moving forward with the third season of "Schmigadoon."

"The season is written (including 25 new songs), but we unfortunately won't be making it. Such is life. I want to thank everyone involved with the show, our incredible cast & crew & writers, our wonderful supporters at Broadway Video, Universal, & Apple, for everything they did to make it happen," he explained.

Paul, who co-created the show with Ken Duario, it was a "miracle" to even have two seasons and they were "grateful" that they did.

"And to all the fans of the show out there-thank you with all of my heart. Your love and support has meant so much, and the fact that you connected with our show, that it brought you some joy, means the world to me. This was tough news to get, but the optimist in me is convinced it's not the end of Schmigadoon...and maybe it's even a happy beginning," he added.

"Schmigadoon" is a musical comedy series set in a magical town perpetually trapped in a Golden Age-style musical. It features an ensemble cast composed of Keegan Michael-Key, Cecily Strong, Kristin Chenoweth, Aaron Tveit, Dove Cameron, Fred Armisen, Alan Cumming, Ariana DeBose, Jane Krakowski, Martin Short, and Tituss Burgess, among many others.

Paul won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for the song "Corn Puddin'", featured in the pilot episode.

'Revive Schmigadoon' Trends Online

A Change.org petition has been launched on social media by dedicated fans, urging others to have the now-axed show revived by other streaming platforms.

"It not only assembled a cast of Broadway greats, it introduced some wonderful songs into the Musical Canon. @AppleTV have made an egregious error!" a fan said.

"The scripts are written, the songs are written - someone at some other network or streamer, please pick this up. Season 1 of Schmigadoon was amazing, Season 2 (Schmicago) was even better, and Season 3... needs to happen. If not Apple, then somewhere!" another tweeted.
